A VISIT TO OLD AGE HOME

"EXPERIENCE AT OLD AGE HOME (HAPPY H0MES)
BY FATIMA QASIM TARAR"

My blog will be about the visit to the Old Age Homes (The Happy Homes).I will share my experience of how people were spending their lives away from their homes. Their heart-touching stories. Old age homes serve as a refuge for elderly individuals who may face challenges such as health issues, mobility limitations, or the absence of immediate family support. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing a secure and caring atmosphere.

Background:

Old age homes, also known as retirement homes or senior living communities, are residential facilities designed to accommodate elderly individuals who may no longer be able to live independently. These homes provide a supportive and communal living environment for senior citizens, offering a range of services and amenities to meet their physical, emotional, and social needs. I visited Happy Homes which is an old age home for senior citizens. Happy Home is an organization operating in Green Town Lahore for the well-being of displaced senior citizens. They provide shelter, health and. nutritional services to the residents of Happy Home. The Old Age Home(Happy Homes )near Azmat Chowk, Green Town, Lahore Pakistan) has been established for the welfare of Senior Citizens of both genders above the age of 60 years who are either abandoned or not treated properly by their children. It can accommodate 50 residents, whereas more than 35 (males and females) are now residing in the Old Age Home.

My Experience:

In the vibrant city of Lahore, nestled within the hustle and bustle of everyday life, there exists a haven of warmth and empathy—Happy Homes—an old age facility that serves as a living testament to the resilience of the human spirit. I recently had the honor of exploring this sanctuary for the elderly, an encounter that etched an enduring impression on my heart. Stepping through its gates, I had no inkling that I was on the brink of an expedition marked by exploration, empathy, and deep human bonds.

From the moment I entered Happy Homes, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of serenity and care. The well-maintained gardens, cheerful colors, and the smiling faces of the staff members created an ambiance that instantly put me at ease. It was evident that this was not just a residence but a community that thrived on love and mutual support. I visited that place with my friends for my final project. we had to make a vlog. It was a wonderful experience. We met people. of people, heard their heartwarming stories.

Meeting the Residents:

As I walked through the corridors, I had the opportunity to meet the remarkable individuals who call Happy Homes their haven. Each person had a unique story to tell, filled with a lifetime of experiences, challenges, and triumphs. It was both humbling and heartwarming to hear their narratives, which reflected not only the passage of time but also the resilience of the human spirit.

Heartfelt Conversations:

In the common area, we struck up conversations with several residents, eager to share their stories. One gentleman, Mr. Ahmed, spoke eloquently about his days as a teacher, reminiscing about the joy he found in shaping young minds. Another resident, Mrs. Khan, shared tales of her vibrant youth, painting a vivid picture of a bygone era. Despite the wrinkles on their faces, their eyes sparkled with the memories of a life well-lived.

we talked to  people asked them about why they are here, they shared there stories .We talked about the old age home where they providing them all the facilities, taking care of them or not.The food they were giving was according to their taste

Challenges and Triumphs:

It was impossible to ignore the challenges that many residents faced, whether it was health-related or the loneliness that often accompanies old age. However, what struck me the most was their resilience and the remarkable ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. From musical gatherings to afternoon tea sessions, the residents had created a supportive community that celebrated life in all its facets. We spent our entire day with them asking them questions and making videos of them. People haven't met their families for so long.

The Power of Companionship:

One of the recurring themes in my conversations was the importance of companionship. Many residents expressed gratitude for the friendships they had formed within the walls of Happy Homes. The sense of belongings.

A Home, Not Just a Shelter:

Happy Homes is more than just a roof over the heads of its residents; it's a community that fosters a sense of belonging. The living spaces were thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and independence. Residents shared responsibilities, creating a genuine sense of family. The atmosphere was filled with love, understanding, and a commitment to ensuring that every individual felt valued and appreciated. It just felt it wasn't a old age home.

SHOOTING:
It was a  great day, that i spent with my friends. We went to old age home met different kind of peoples, ask them question we shooted our intro and ending part there with a lot of bloopers and retakes. Our vlog began by sitting down with a few residents to hear their stories. The wealth of life experiences they shared was both humbling and inspiring. From tales of adventure to reflections on love and family, each person had a unique narrative that deserved to be heard. We found ourselves laughing, empathizing, and forming connections that transcended generational gaps.

At the end we distributed gift, we spend time with talking asking about their daily life activities, giving out presents made us feel happy and a little bit sad. The old people gathered around, looking excited and hopeful. Their faces had lots of lines, showing they've been through a lot in many years. Each line had a story of how they stayed strong and kept going.

Seeing their wrinkles made my heart feel heavy, but when they smiled, it was like a warm hug. Their happiness melted away any sadness, making the room feel cozy and kind. It showed me that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Giving and receiving gifts became a special moment that reminded me of the good things that connect all of us, no matter our age.

Conclusion:

Our day at Happy Homes was a remarkable adventure filled with laughter, love, and shared experiences. The vlog we created aimed to break stereotypes surrounding old-age homes, emphasizing the vibrant lives lived within their walls. It was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of fostering connections across generations. In documenting this journey, we hope to inspire others to seek out similar opportunities for meaningful connections and to appreciate the rich tapestry of stories that older generations have to share. And from this activity i learned a lesson or you can say the one thing that influence me the most is that we should respect our elders, We should never argues with them even if they are wrong, we can put our point in front of them but our tone should be polite in such a way that it should not be disrespectful to them. This was our final project in group submitted by fatima qasim tarar, emaan jamshaid, kainat sohail, munnazah Kaleem. It was a wonderful experience.
